Use these distinctions to narrow the brief. The finished specification and a suitable sample determine whether a format works for your product.
| Format or decision | When to consider it | What to check before approval |
|---|---|---|
| Mailer without an insert | Contents that can be packed with an agreed cushioning method. | Check movement, surface contact and whether loose items can collide. |
| Mailer with a fitted insert | Multiple components or a product that needs a defined position. | Check insert fit, removal access and the packed weight. |
| Presentation box inside a shipper | A retail or gift box whose appearance needs protection in transit. | Measure the complete inner pack and review the outer shipping carton. |
| Return-ready closure | A project where customers may need to reseal the parcel. | Specify the return journey and confirm any tear strip or second closure in a sample. |
Allow for the actual inserts, wrapping and accessories used in fulfillment. If the product is fragile, agree on a suitable evaluation of the complete pack before ordering.
Evaluate the box together with its internal support, closure and packed contents. Confirm the proposed board specification and the appropriate sampling or validation for the handling conditions.
Include the requested quantity, artwork status and delivery destination. Confirm available materials, sample requirements, pricing and timing in the written quotation.
Yes. The construction style does not by itself identify the board specification. Confirm the proposed material and evaluate it against product weight, stacking and shipping requirements.
