Use these distinctions to narrow the brief. The finished specification and a suitable sample determine whether a format works for your product.
| Format or decision | When to consider it | What to check before approval |
|---|---|---|
| Structure | Start with a mailer, slotted carton or another suitable opening. | Provide a drawing or a FEFCO reference where applicable; confirm the actual dieline. |
| Board specification | Match the proposed board to the product and handling conditions. | Ask for the flute, liner and relevant board specifications rather than selecting by color alone. |
| Printing and finish | Choose the surfaces that carry branding or instructions. | Check artwork scale, board appearance and the agreed proof or sample. |
| Transit performance | Define how the packed product will be stored and shipped. | Agree on relevant validation; a board description alone does not demonstrate shipping performance. |
Describe the product's weight, the way boxes will be stacked and the shipping conditions. Compare board specifications with the proposed structure before deciding how much of the surface to print.
Evaluate the box together with its internal support, closure and packed contents. Confirm the proposed board specification and the appropriate sampling or validation for the handling conditions.
Include the requested quantity, artwork status and delivery destination. Confirm available materials, sample requirements, pricing and timing in the written quotation.
Yes. The construction style does not by itself identify the board specification. Confirm the proposed material and evaluate it against product weight, stacking and shipping requirements.
